Hi,
The generator is not charging. I did the tests, 6 volts at the battery side, only .14 at the generator output. Took it apart and found pieces of brittle cord that broke off of the armature. Is it just to protect the ends of the wires on the armature? What should I use to replace it?

In doing a continuity test... the armature did not pass the test.
I took apart a second generator and that armature also did not test as good.
Have four more generators to tear apart and test.
If none test good then will purchase a rebuilt armature.

Should I change out the field coils or should the original field coils still be good?

I will be totally rebuilding the generator.
